About rounder
Rounder is a workshop of 137 free tools for video, images, PDFs, text and everyday jobs. Every one of them runs in your browser, so your files never leave your device. No sign-ups, no watermarks, no daily limits.
It's made by Adam Sari, one independent developer. No company, no investors, no growth team.
Why it exists
Rounder started in the middle of editing a video montage. I needed a few small jobs done: trim a clip, convert a format, shrink a file so it could be sent. Every site I tried was the same: upload your file to a stranger's server, wait in a queue, dodge three fake "Download" buttons, then hit a sign-up wall, a watermark or a "premium" limit right before the file I actually needed.
Browsers can do almost all of this work themselves now, on your own device, for free. So I started building the tools I wished existed, then kept going. Rounder is the result: the tool, done properly, and nothing in the way.
How it's built
- Everything runs locally. Tools use WebAssembly, Web Workers, WebCodecs and WebGPU to do the heavy work on your device. There's no server that processes files, and no database.
- On the shoulders of open source. The engines are well-known libraries such as PDF.js, pdf-lib, FFmpeg and ONNX Runtime, and AI models released openly by researchers. They're all on the credits page.
- Tested in real browsers. Automated tests open every page in Chrome, Firefox and Safari's engine, at desktop and phone sizes, and run real files through the tools.
- Simple hosting. The site is a set of static files on Cloudflare Pages. Here's every network request it makes.
Built with AI help
I build Rounder with AI coding assistants, mainly Anthropic's Claude, which write a large share of the code and help draft the pages. I decide what each tool should do, review the work, test the tools and fix what's wrong, and I'm responsible for everything on the site. If something is broken or wrong, that's on me, and I'd like to hear about it.
That's separate from the AI tools on the site, like the background remover or the transcriber. Those run open models on your own device, and nothing you give them is used to train anything.
Open source
The whole site is open source under the AGPL-3.0. You can read the code at github.com/adam-sari/rounder, check that it does what this site says, suggest a tool, fix a bug or run your own copy.
How it stays free
A few polite ads from Google pay for the domain and the time. The tools that handle passwords, keys and private documents have no ads at all. More on why it's free.
