›Why turn an MP4 into an MP3?
An MP4 is a video, and plenty of places only want the sound: music players, podcast apps, car stereos, ringtones and transcription services. The MP3 is also much smaller than the video, because the picture is gone.
›Does converting lose quality?
The audio inside most MP4s is AAC, so making an MP3 re-encodes it once, which is very hard to hear at 192 kbps or more. To keep the sound exactly as it is, pick M4A with "Original" instead: it copies the AAC track without re-encoding, and it is instant.
›How big will the MP3 be?
About 1.4 MB per minute at 192 kbps, 1 MB per minute at 128 kbps and 2.4 MB per minute at 320 kbps, whatever the size of the video. The tool shows an estimate for all your files before you start.
›Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. Your files are processed on your own device by your browser. They never touch our servers, so there are no upload waits, no size caps from us, and nothing to delete afterwards.
