Under a megabyte, with photos that still look good.

warming up the tool…

How it works

  1. 01Drop in your PDFs; the target is 1 MB (1,000,000 bytes).
  2. 02Each file is estimated from a few photos and compressed at the sharpest setting under 1 MB.
  3. 03Check the result line, then download.

Questions

›Is 1 MB 1,000 KB or 1,024 KB here?

We aim under 1,000,000 bytes, the smaller of the two definitions, so the file passes either way a site counts it.

›What usually needs compressing to 1 MB?

Phone scans and photo-heavy PDFs. A phone camera page is often 2–4 MB on its own, mostly because the photo is far sharper than a page needs. Bringing it to 150–200 dpi usually gets several pages under 1 MB with no visible difference on screen.

›Does "100 KB" mean 100,000 or 102,400 bytes?

We aim under 1 KB = 1,000 bytes, the stricter of the two. A file that fits here also passes an upload form that counts 1 KB as 1,024 bytes, so you never have to guess which one a site uses.

›Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. Your files are processed on your own device by your browser. They never touch our servers, so there are no upload waits, no size caps from us, and nothing to delete afterwards.
