Compress image to 500 KB
Full-size-looking photos at a fraction of the size.
How it works
- 01Drop in one photo or a whole batch. The limit is already set to 500 KB; type your own number if the form asks for another.
- 02Each file gets the highest JPG quality that fits, and is made smaller in pixels only if quality alone isn't enough.
- 03Check the result line under each file ("✓ fits", or why not), then download one by one or as a zip.
Questions
›Does a photo have to be resized to reach 500 KB?
Sometimes. Smaller photos and smooth scenes reach 500 KB by quality alone, keeping every pixel. A full-size 12-megapixel phone photo usually also gets scaled down a little, which you won't notice on screen.
›Does it remove location data?
When the photo is saved again, yes: EXIF data such as GPS location and camera details is dropped, after the picture is turned the right way up. A JPG that is already under 500 KB is handed back untouched and keeps its data, so use the EXIF remover if that matters.
›Which KB does it use, 1,000 or 1,024 bytes?
It aims under 1 KB = 1,000 bytes, the stricter of the two, so the file also passes forms that count 1,024. The result line shows the size the same way.
›Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. Your files are processed on your own device by your browser. They never touch our servers, so there are no upload waits, no size caps from us, and nothing to delete afterwards.
