›HEIC to PNG or HEIC to JPG?
Pick PNG if you plan to edit the photo further, since PNG adds no compression of its own. Pick JPG to share or upload, because the files are much smaller.
›Why are the PNG files so big?
PNG is lossless, so it stores every pixel exactly. That's great for graphics but makes photos large, often several times the size of the HEIC. Choosing a smaller size like 1920 helps a lot.
›Does PNG improve the quality?
No. Nothing is lost in the conversion, but PNG can only keep what the HEIC already contained. It can't add detail back.
›Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. Your files are processed on your own device by your browser. They never touch our servers, so there are no upload waits, no size caps from us, and nothing to delete afterwards.
