Questions

›Why do images from websites save as WebP?

Many sites serve WebP because it's smaller than JPG and loads faster. Browsers show it fine, but some photo editors, print services and upload forms still don't accept it.

›Will I lose quality?

A tiny bit, since both formats are lossy. At the default quality of 90 it's very hard to spot. If you need zero further loss, convert to PNG instead.

›What about transparent WebP images?

JPG has no transparency, so transparent areas are filled with white or a color you choose. To keep transparency, convert WebP to PNG.

›Are my files uploaded anywhere?

No. Your files are processed on your own device by your browser. They never touch our servers, so there are no upload waits, no size caps from us, and nothing to delete afterwards.
